The birth of the initiative is very interesting: La Garriga de Castelladral and La Casa dels Pianos own a big room with a grand piano, which is acoustically prepared for concerts. They wanted to do an activity related to the world of students and music. When they contacted the music schools of area 6 (Catalunya Central) of the Catalan Association of Schools of Music (ACEM), it seemed that one possibility could be to offer students a very special piano concert, in the middle of nature. La Garriga de Castelladral is located in an emblematic geographical location, surrounded by a beauty environment and moreover the big room is called “Piano Room”, as seen from above, architecturally, is shaped like a grand piano.

The proposal had very good acceptance. Pianists of 16 music schools from different municipalities will participate in the concert, which will take place on the 3rd April 2011.
 

The concert itself, has another attraction, the presence of Benjamin Santacana, a professor of the Conservatory of Manresa and Conservatorio del Liceu in Barcelona. His special role will be to unite the young pianist interpretations through small interventions. The intention is to guide the audience and give a pedagogical air to the concert.

We do not know if it was chance or not that we found each other and had this nice idea: some of us are willing to share space; others want to do new and creative projects... We have been fortunate to meet each other and be able to realize this dream.

This first edition is called “Piano Room” Concert, like the concert room where it will take place. We want to promote this annual event every year between schools of music, La Garriga de Castelladral and La Casa dels Pianos. The most important thing is that this nice project will promote music and give more opportunities to the piano students of our schools.

We really appreciate the involvement of La Garriga de Castelladral, La Casa dels Pianos and TO+ Restaurant throughout the project and the collaboration of Benjamí Santacana. But the real stars of the event are all the pianists that will participate and that despite the nerves that run inside before a concert, are willing to go on stage to play. We encourage them not stop making music, we will do our best to support them!
